5 Common DIY Pressure Washing Issues

5 common diy pressure washing issues

It's a common misconception that tackling pressure washing your property on your own is both safer and less expensive than hiring a pressure washing company. If you've never used pressure washing equipment before, trying to pressure wash your property can pose more risks than you think.

We've put together five of the most common issues you run into when trying to tackle pressure washing your property on your own. Even if you think you're still able to do it yourself, it's best to read this list before you make your decision.

5 Of The Most Common Issues With DIY Pressure Washing

  1. Cost of Pressure Washing Equipment - It's a fact - pressure washing equipment isn't cheap to get a hold of. Even consumer-grade pressure washing equipment is more expensive than you think it would be. You may think you'll sink more into hiring a company to handle pressure washing for you, but the investment ends up paying off better than renting or buying equipment.
  2. There's a Learning Curve - Some folks think that pressure washing is a simple process. Just dump some soap into some water, put that in a pressure washing machine, and spray. It's actually a little more complicated than that. Several variables, such as the amount of pressure to use for certain surfaces and the best kind of solution to use for a project, give learning to pressure wash a steeper curve than you may realize.
  3. No Two Services Are The Same - This goes back to the learning curve. Again, pressure settings and cleaning solutions that work for one surface may completely damage another. For instance, you can easily perform a soft washing with regular environmentally-friendly solutions for a roof cleaning, but rust removal is more involved. There are different pressure settings, and we may need a different type of cleaning solution, because the cleaning solution for the roof isn't strong enough to wash away rust.
On the other hand, a cleaning solution strong enough to wash away rust may prove caustic for roofing shingles. In other words, you could do quite a bit of damage.
  4. There's A Lot of Room For Error - Our pressure washing pros are well-trained in the art of pressure washing. They're able to clean quickly, but they have the tools and the know-how to be very thorough while utilizing speedy techniques. If you try to rush your own pressure washing, you're more likely to miss things, or...
  5. Severe Damage Can Occur - Not knowing which pressure settings to use for which surfaces, or which cleaning solutions to use, can lead to costly property damage. In some cases, the damage may even be irreparable, vastly increasing your spend by having to replace whatever was damaged. This typically refers to broken windows.

If you're still on the fence, we can always lend a helping hand. Give us a call today to learn more about the benefits of hiring a pressure washing service over trying to pressure wash your property yourself. Our pros are always ready, willing, and able to talk shop!
